A new series called The Run started on the channel at 8pm, Thursday 19th April and will run for six weeks, with repeats Fridays 9.30am and 8.30pm, Saturdays 6pm and Sundays 8pm.
Channel M and the Manchester Evening News have chosen 6 people to get fit and take part in this year's Bupa Great Manchester Run. All the people involved decided that 2007 was going to be the year to get fit, lose weight and set themselves a new challenge. With the help of fitness expert, Christina Waring, from Total Fitness in Whitefield, nutritionalist Elizabeth Harfleet and TV's Dr Chris Steele, the participants will be put through their paces in preparation for the 10K run on Sunday May 20th 2007. And the Channel M cameras will be there every step of the way.
Joining them on this journey is Channel M's news anchorman, Andy Crane, who wanted to take the challenge too. He says 'I thought it was about time I got fit and couldn't think of a greater incentive than possible humiliation on telly if I were to fail!'
Regular updates about how the runners are getting on feature in the Manchester Evening News and MEN Online.

The Horwich Carnival Races committee is delighted to announce that this
year’s Fun Run, one of the events of this year’s Horwich Carnival Races on June
24th, is being sponsored by Bluemantle (Property Developers / Investors).
The committee are extremely grateful to James Caldwell Chairman of
Bluemantle for generously supporting the events in this way.
The committee has also been successful with its application for a
Sportsmatch award of £1000, which has been awarded to match
the sponsorship by Bluemantle for a schools’ challenge within the
Horwich Carnival Fun Run. Sportsmatch is the Government’s Business
Sponsorship Incentive Scheme for Sport and Physical Recreation.

The Schools’ Challenge set up by the Carnival Races Committee,
is specifically aimed at getting school children involved and rewarding
the schools with the greatest participation (in terms of percentage of
children from Key Stages 1, 2, 3 & 4) with Schools’ Challenge trophies.
The primary and secondary schools being approached to support this
initiative are from Horwich, Blackrod, Lostock and Rivington. It is
hoped as many as eleven primary schools, two secondary schools
and a special school will help by taking up the challenge.
