SCHOOLS’ AND CORPORATE CHALLENGES
This year’s Fun Runs include the return of the Schools’ Challenge. The Schools’ Challenge is specifically aimed at getting school children involved and rewarding the schools with the greatest participation (in terms of percentage of children from Key Stages 1, 2, 3 & 4) with Schools’ Challenge trophies. The primary and secondary schools approached to support this initiative are from Horwich, Blackrod, Lostock and Rivington, though any schools are welcome to take up the challenge. It is hoped as many as eleven local primary schools, two secondary schools and a special school will be taking up the challenge. Last year

The Horwich Carnival Races committee is delighted that this year’s Fun Runs are again being sponsored by Bluemantle (Property Developers / Investors). The committee is extremely grateful to James Caldwell, Chairman of Bluemantle, for once again generously supporting the events in this way.
The Schools' Challenge is also within the Green Machine 1 Lap Cycle Race for 5 to 18 year olds and the Bolton Arena Ride For All.
Last year St. Catherine’s Primary School in Horwich had eight competitors, the highest number of competitors from any local primary school. An additional challenge this year is the Corporate Challenge, where firms are encouraged to get together teams of three and run as a group. Whether it’s the Fun Runs or the 5Ks, teams can enter this challenge. So whatever the distance you can get involved. Also, as well as running for your school, work team or just yourself, you could also run to help the nominated charity Bolton Hospice ( sponsor form in Entry Form section) or a charity of your choice. Indeed, £1 from every Horwich Carnival Races entry will be going to Bolton Hospice.
The Challenge is on.
Bolton Arena Ride For All will be a free to enter mass bike ride for anyone to take part in and will precede the Carnival Parade. So come on everyone, on your bike! The challenge is to see as many bikes as possible on the circuit making Horwich a blur of wheels.
The Railway Sleeper World Championships will be a relay event where teams of four will carry railway sleepers in pairs along a section of
